Atlas Mountains, Morocco
Walking holiday based in Toubkal, in the High Atlas Mountains, Morocco

The Ourika Valley, with the Atlas Mountains in the distance.
I have recently been to Marrakech and while there met up with two guides, one qualified with 14 years experience and the other (who we called Big Ben) with 34 years. They run an organisation called Traditional Trekking which does not have a website. They operate out of their office (Ben's home) where Sue and I saw all the evidence of their walking.
They are prepared to organise transport from Marrakech, accommodation (sometimes in Berber homes, sometimes under canvas) mules, food etc. - everything in fact except the flight from the UK and a sleeping bag. The cost would be around £250 per person for a party of 6, less if we have more people. The best time to do this trek is in April 2009 and we will be in the mountains for 7 days. By April most of the snow should have gone and all the mountain flowers should be at their best. The days are clear and sunny but not too hot. We will not be on the usual tourist routes and will often be in remote villages.
Would anyone like to join me? If you're interested or want more information, please .
